Nothing wrong with being inspired by somebody! Just because two of their songs sound similar doesn’t make Gaga unoriginal~ I don’t even like either artist but if if one is the idol of the other, even subconsciously, something like this is bound to happen sometime >.>

Ignore the words and listen to the melody and you’ll hear the similarities. Also, listen closer to the background music (chords) and you’ll hear they are VERY similar.

thats only because chord progressions are always similar because of smooth voice leading tones, if two chords are similar then the whole rest of the song will probably be similar

Nope, these just aren’t that similar. It sort of has the same beat, but that’s a very weak comparison. I’ve listened to them a number of times now and it isn’t getting any closer.

Meh- The argument is not doing much for me. ANd I am one who WOULD LOVE it if they matched up just to find a way to take down Gaga.
I think Lady G is pretty bland and her only real fault is doing half-asses version of Grace Jones while trying to de-throne Madonna but be seen as avante-garde as Bjork. I will admit that her last few singles did bring techno back to the glory it had in the 90s, especially ‘Edge Of Glory’ so don’t hate her completely. And Madonna well, in trying to stay relevant I feel her music has gone downhill (I don’t care what the sales say). She should pause for a bit and make a more mature a mature album of mature songs like ‘Ray Of Light’. The fans will still follow her to club all the same.

Not that similar imho. Also this eternal fight between fans of both stars: Madonna has had her moment that is now over. Lady Gaga is her great replacement (not to mention that Gaga is quite a better artist in many aspects. At the beginning of her career Madonna had no real talent save her outrageous attitude)

“Born This Way” is a combination of “Express Yourself”, “Waterfalls” by TLC (the verses are exactly the same as the verses of Waterfalls, only sped up), “When Love Takes Over” by David Guetta (which also borrowed from Express Yourself a great deal), “God is a DJ” by P!nk and we could go on and on. Lady Gaga, or whoever creates her music, is a total hack.
