“Werewolves of London” sounds like “Sweet Home Alabama”
Warren Zevon (along with LeRoy Marinell &Waddy Wachtel) had his only top 40 hit with Werewolves Of London. The theme & title were inspired by the 1935 Stanley Bergerman film “Werewolf of London”, and the music, it seems, inspired by Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama
“.
Sure, it’s a common enough progression. But to be written four or so years after such a chart buster as “Sweet Home Alabama” is sorta ballsy.
Take a listen & let me know what you think.

Kid Rock also did a rip-off of both songs
Ha, that’s true Mike.
Kid Rock did a rip off of “Sweet Home Alabama” he mentioned it like 20 times in the song “all summer long”
Steve Miller Band’s “Take The Money And Run” should be included
I’m not a fan of Kid Rock’s song, but I saw an interview with him and he talked about how he purposefully used riffs from both these songs because they are so similar. He also mentioned “Take the money and run” and said he tried to incorporate it in the song as well, but ended up leaving it out.
Feel so stupid! Just sent this away as a sounalike, but didn’t realize it was already on here!
The first time I heard Werewolves of London I was really surprised by how similar it was to Sweet Home Alabama.
